Y.T SILKS – Tencel Rayon Fabrics for Apparel

Tencel, also known as Lyocell, is a type of rayon that offers several advantages:

Sustainability: Tencel is made from sustainably managed eucalyptus wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It’s produced through a closed-loop system that recovers 99% of the non-toxic chemicals needed to break down the wood into fiber.

Absorbency: Tencel can wick moisture from the skin quickly, absorbing moisture around 50% more quickly than cotton and releasing it into the atmosphere.

Breathability: Tencel is a very breathable material that helps keep you cool in hot weather.

Anti-Bacterial: Tencel is reported to be anti-bacterial, meaning your clothes smell fresher for longer.

Versatility: Tencel can be used to make anything from flowy dresses, stretchy sportswear to breathable bed sheets or stiffer smart shirts.

High Tenacity and Low Elongation: Tencel has very good properties, such as high tenacity and low elongation. It has a high moisture regain of 11.5% and at the same time retains tenacity well when wet.

It’s important to note that while Tencel is made from natural wood pulp, it’s not considered a natural fiber like cotton or wool due to the manufacturing process. Instead, it’s referred to as a ‘regenerated cellulosic fiber’.
